It is amazing how fast a person can roll into a Hollywood biopic. Having only died earlier this year, wildlife conservationist Joan Root will have a film made about her starring Julia Roberts.
Julia Roberts is Joan Root
The untitled project, inspired by Vanity Fair article "A Flowering Evil," will follow Root's earlier life making documentaries around the globe with her husband. After their divorce, she returned to Kenya where she devoted herself to saving Lake Naivasha from the ecologically damaging flower farm industry.
Root was murdered in her Kenyan home.
David Magee -- who could have filled lakes with the tears shed for his script Finding Neverland -- has been given the responsibility to write the project's screenplay.
This project represents one of many films set to under production under the Universal-backed Working Title Films. The production company has six films set to roll before 2007 closes out -- their busiest production schedule ever.
