Any trailer that starts off with Gustav Holst's "The Planets" ("Mars" to be exact) is alright in my book. The teaser trailer for The Golden Compass kicks off with New Line Cinema gloating how it was they who delivered The Lord of the Rings. Though they are beeping their own horn, got to love their optimism at making the His Dark Materials trilogy as good as LOTR.
The trailer then introduces us to a compilation of clips from The Golden Compass that are sure to point out the film's impressive cast. Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel - brilliant.
Rumors suggested that New Line threw out a good portion the religious element that intertwines itself in the trilogy's story. Having almost completed the third book in the trilogy, I can only hope this is not true. Fortunately, the teaser trailer does point out some church heads, which is something at least.
