Avid viewers of Heroes may have been shocked when D.L. took a bullet in the second to last episode of the season. On a show that revels in killing main characters more frequently than Lost, DL could be a goner. But actor Leonard Roberts kept hope alive that he would be in the season finale, appearing with the entire ensemble cast.
Interview: Leonard Roberts on Tonight's Heroes Finale
"It's been a big payoff," said Roberts. "I love it. As an actor it's cool to get off the bench and do a little something and then just for the fans, I think it's great to see the entire cast together for once on screen. I think that's going to be cool. When it all happens and you see everybody on the screen doing their thing, it's not going to disappoint."
Now, will DL make it to Season Two? Apparently the last three minutes of the finale indicates where next year is going, but Roberts isn't saying whether he's involved. "In the tradition of Adrian Pasdar, I'm going to give my best Bill Clinton-esque answer and say possibly. Possibly. We're kind of on a short, short tether with the producers here. We've got to keep it under wraps. I don't want to spoil it for anybody. I got stopped in the street and somebody was like, 'Don't tell me anything that happens.' I'm like, 'Cool.' But it's going to be good. It's awesome."
As for shooting the finale, it sounds like Roberts still has some more work we haven't seen yet. "I always kind of look at the last three episodes, 21, 22 and 23 as kind of one big episode. It just, from 21 on, it's a runaway train. I'm instrumental in the beginning part of it. We've done some green screen stuff. It's been a part of the episodes that I'm featured in. We work it out and we have a lot in our next episode, in 22, and a little bit in 23."
