Richard Gere is lookin to try pet ownership with the upcoming film Hachiko: A Dog's Story.

Fully financed by Inferno Entertainment, Hachiko: A Dog's Story will feature and be produced by Richard Gere.
Gere will play a college professor who takes in a dog he finds abandoned. Both man and hound find their lives changed forever as they form an unbreakable bond. Scripted by Stephen P. Lindsay, the project is based on a true story and inspired by the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko monogatari.
Inferno Entertainment's Bill Johnson and Vicky Shigekuni will also produce.
Though no director has been found for Hachiko just yet, the studio says they are closing in on one.
They better, as Hachiko: A Dog's Story is expected to begin production this September.
