When looking for a German general for his upcoming film Valkyrie, director Bryan Singer knew he needed somebody with experience. Having played the Nazi general, Reinhard Heydrich, in HBO's Conspiracy, Kenneth Branagh seemed like the perfect choice.
Kenneth Branagh for Valkyrie
enneth Branagh couldn't look more Aryan if he tried. Though the actor has laid pretty low ever since his bit on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Branagh will return to co-star with Tom Cruise on the Bryan Singer-directed project.
Based on a script by Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander, Branagh will play a German general who mentors Cruise's character and hatches a plan to assassinate Hitler. Valkyrie is based on a true story.
Inferno Entertainment's Bill Johnson and Vicky Shigekuni will also produce.
Valkyrie marks the second project to which UA has committed. The project will begin lensing July 19th in Berlin.
Branagh, who has always remained close to Shakespeare, will star in a version of As You Like It set to premiere on HBO this September.
