Jordin
Well Idol fans, season 6 comes down to this. Remember this is a singing competition. It is not about who is fun or cute. The contestants sang three songs tonight. One would be a song they performed earlier in the season, one new song and the songwriter’s competition winning song.
Ryan flipped a coin to see who would be singing first. Blake won the toss and was nice to let Jordin choose if she would like to perform first or second. Jordin opted to go second – always the right move.
American Idol S6 Finalist Recap
First up Blake sang the song he chose from a previous week “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi – playing off the drummer was fun – just not a strong singer – Randy said 10 outta 10 on Beat box, singing was just ‘ahright’ – Paula said outdid himself, better than at CBS (other stage), 10 plus – Simon said not the best singer but best performer, singing flat, his best ‘performance’.
Jordin performed her new song first “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera – gutsy to choose a Christina song – got goose bumps with high notes at end – good job – Randy said brilliant, voice stellar – Paula said one of the best finals ever – Simon said vocals shrieky in middle, awarded round one to Blake.
Next Blake performed his new song “She Will be Loved” by Maroon 5 – good song choice for his voice – weak on the high notes – one of my favorite performances from him – Rand said very nice – Paula said sounded great, relaxed – Simon said good, safe, not as good as first performance, bad song choice for finals.
Now Jordin gave us her previously performed song “A Broken Wing” by Martina McBride – perfection – clear vocal – beautiful – one of the best performances on American Idol ever – Randy said most talented 17 year old he’s seen, flawless – Paula said great vocal, soaring – Simon said 'now that was good'.
Our Idol contestants’ last performance was the songwriter’s winning song by Jeff Peabody and Scott Krippayne, “This is My Now”.
Blake is first up. Just not the right kind of song for him – background singers over-shadowed him in parts – Randy said pretty good job, ‘ahright’ – Paula said great job, great voice – Simon said a little odd, frustrated, dancing around in the middle didn’t fit.
To wrap up the night Jordin sang her version of “This is My Now”. It was almost as if the song was written for her – filled with emotion – amazing – Randy said best singer tonight, you deserve it all – Paula said she has a lot to be proud of, an angel – Simon said he apologized for saying he didn’t think she was good enough to be in the finals, wiped the floor with Blake on that song.
No doubt, hands down, the better singer and my next American Idol – Jordin Sparks.
Wednesday night's American Idol Finale results show will begin a half hour
early with a Red Carpet arrival special. Followed by a two hour
