Kathy Griffin
Kathy Griffin is still on the D-List despite a couple of seasons on a popular show touting that fact. My Life on the D-List is coming back for a third season, with Griffin proudly accepting her position. She won't even bump herself up to C.
Interview: Kathy Griffin Talks My Life on the D-List
"No, I'm not on the C-list, and I resent the implication," said Griffin. "Today when I came in, this woman came up to me, and she was so sweet and she goes, 'I love you.' I said, 'Oh, thank you so much.' And she turned to her friend and said, 'It's what's her face.' So I know my place."
Season three will find Griffin facing all new adventures in her personal and professional life. "I do have a story arc. We're all getting on a plane and going to London tonight because the show has been sold to the UK. And so I'm going international, like Shakira, and we're going to go there and do press and stuff. So that will be the final episode. And the story arc is everything from I'm dating, and what I learned is that I married for love, like a fool, and now I only want to date men who can get me photographed in a tabloid."
Expect to see other D-list celebrities as Griffin's suitors. "I have a date with Ron Jeremy. Perhaps you've heard of him. I have a date with Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Nobody gives a sh*t. Don't act like you date Nick Carter in your spare time. That's impressive, people. I'm sorry it's not Aaron. You guys are cynical. I do that. It's action-packed. I perform at a maximum-security prison. Yeah, they don't do that on Desperate Housewives or Heroes. I host the Gay Porn Awards."
Obviously, not all of these endeavors are for her love life. "The Gay Porn Awards is just something that's fun. I would have done it whether or not the show came along. And the prison was to meet guys because, let me tell you, they're hot. And I know they shouldn't have raped their grandmother, but they didn't mean it. They're very good-looking, and they're in great shape."
By the time she gets to England, don't expect Griffin's celebrity status to change. "I'm not famous in England. That's what this week is going to be, is us walking around London flyering. For real, I'm flyering. So I'm excited, though, because I know they're doing a big push for the show over there, which, ironically, is on the E! channel over there. I think it will be great to do one live show and see what the audiences are like. Then I get to do a press day, and I'm really excited because tomorrow I'm having lunch with Ricky Gervais, who I worship. And then Monday night I'm spending the evening with Graham Norton. And then, actually, we're going to go to Dublin after that and do a couple of days there. But I'm really thrilled to see how the audiences are, how it's different. I want to watch all the shows there. And I think for women in comedy it's great because they just don't have that 'chicks aren't funny' attitude there. So I'm trying to stay optimistic."
My Life on the D-List returns June 5 to Bravo.
Stay tuned for updates.
