The Seinfeld DVDs have become as well oiled a machine as the show itself was. While the Season 8 set tries to point out some new standout features, it's really just maintaining the high quality of the previous seven.
DVD Review: Seinfeld Season 8
The new documentary does focus on Larry David's departure and Jerry Seinfeld's work ethic taking over. That's specific to the season, but it's still the same compilation of interviews ranging from supporting actors to executives, so it's the continuing portrait of Seinfeld, though nearing the end.
Interview soundbites continue to give episode-specific comments. Pick your favorite episode and find out juicy little tidbits. Many of the outrageous ideas are in fact based on real experiences.
Deleted Seinfeld scenes are right up to par with the main show. They're clearly just cut for time. So get a few brand new Seinfeldisms in these short clips.
Bloopers show Seinfeld playing to the studio audience, Michael Richards doing impeccable improv slapstick and basically everyone cracking each other up. With less established casts, this can be annoying but the Seinfeld crew are such pros, it really is genuine professional admiration that cracks them up. And just seeing pros mess up so badly is fun too, especially when one scene trips them up over and over.
