Damn, don't think I am going to be able to catch this one. With something as big as Transformers, who would have thought Paramount's first choice of world premiere to be Taormina?
Transformers to Premiere in Taormina
Transformers will have its world premiere at the Taormina Film Fest, as announced by the event's artistic director, Deborah Young.
Young said, or should I say admitted, that the film's premiere would represent the first time a major U.S. film of that magnitude has premiere at the 53-year-old event. Bay and several cast members are expected to celebrate the ceremony and appear at the film's first showing on June 21st.
"We think the decision to premiere Transformers in Taormina shows a renewed interest in the festival, and it illustrates the strong ties between this Mediterranean festival and American cinema," Young, in her first year as artistic director, said in an interview.
In a move similar to what the nightly news does, Taormina will not play the film until its second to last day. Well, at least they aren't promising the film will show right after the next commercial. Stupid nightly news.
The Taormina Film Fest is located on the Italian island of Sicily and runs for a week beginning June 16th.
