Even though Transformers is due out on a Wednesday, July 4th, Paramount couldn't let all the other studios have all the fun by pushing their summer-tentpole release dates forward. Spider-Man 3 did it, and so did At Worlds End; both of which gained significantly in box office numbers thanks to the move. So why not Transformers?
Transformers Release Pushed to July 2nd!
Since there have to be many moviegoers like me who enjoy entering a drunken stupor on the Fourth of July, Paramount wants to make sure we get into theaters and contribute to Transformers' opening bow. The studio has announced that the film will be pushed an entire day earlier to July 3rd. But what about the tried-but-true midnight showings?
Though Paramount stuck with "mums the word," this little bit of information appeared on Michael Bay's official blog:
Just spoke to Michael and he confirmed that Transformers will open in theaters on July 3 with a special showing on the night of July 2.
