Although Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End dropped 62% of its earnings from its opening weekend, it was still able to pull in $43.2 million or in other words, my yearly salary. It’s 10 day mark is at $216.5 million which is behind the second installment of the series which grossed $258.4 after 10 days.
2nd Weekend Box Office: Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
Knocked Up made as much money in its opening weekend ($29.3 million) as it cost to make the entire movie. Not a bad investment. Judd Apatow has something going here as his last film The 40 Year-Old Virgin took in $21.4 million in its opening weekend and went on to haul in over $100 million.
Shrek the Third did enough to hold on to the 3 spot after earning $26.7 million, bringing its total to $254.6 million.
Kevin Costner apparently still acts as his thriller Mr. Brooks, which costars Dane Cook of all people, opened to a quiet $10 million.
Lastly, Gracie (which I liked better when it was called Bend it Like Beckham) opened up to what is probably many people’s yearly salary of $1.4 million.
