With audiences still laughing along with Knocked Up, Judd Apatow wants to go into his next project with steam and has set up Jack Black to help him do it.
Jack Black, Judd Apatow for Year One
Jack Black has been picked up by Columbia Pictures to star in Year One, a comedy being produced by Judd Apatow.
Harold Ramis, who had a small role in Knocked Up, will direct the comedy. Owen Wilson will exec produce.
Year One is one of many projects that Jack Black will have influence on including Be Kind Rewind and Margot at the Wedding; both will be released this year. Black is currently lending his voice to the CG-animated DreamWorks animation, Kung Fu Panda.
Apatow's relationship with Columbia has been growing thanks to his producing responsibilities on other projects including Walk Hard, Pineapple Express and You Don't Mess With the Zohan. He is not exclusive to Columbia, however, as he is also producing Drillbit Taylor for Paramount and Forgetting Sarah Marshall for Universal.
