Speed Racer
I don't know what the exact rule is on giving a casting update, but I am told that Variety has probably given away what should have been a twist in Warner Bros' upcoming adaptation of Speed Racer. Below is both the non-spoiler and spoiler version of the casting update.
Speed Racer Picks Up Scott Porter
Scott Porter -- who you may know from Friday Night Lights, Ugly Betty or Descent -- has been picked up by Warner Bros. to play Rex, Speed Racer's older brother in (you guessed it) Speed Racer.
That basically sums up the update. So, for those of you looking for a little extra with a huge spoiler, check out the report in its entirety (highlight to read):
Porter will play Rex, the older brother to Speed Racer who fakes his death and returns as Racer X (Matthew Fox).
So I guess that character isn't so secret anymore.
Porter joins Emile Hirsch, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon. Just in case you have been in a coma the last year, Speed Racer will be directed by the Wachowski brothers.
