Bill Murray for City of Ember
With a script from Caroline Thompson, City of Ember tells the story of a dark place where the only light comes from street lamps. As the power source begins to fail, two teenagers search for clues that will unlock ancient mysteries about the city but they are thwarted by a corrupt mayor.
Gil Kenan (Monster House) will direct and Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce. City of Ember is one of three recent book adaptations for Playtone including Charlie Wilson's War and the Maurice Sendak kid novel Where the Wild Things Are.
Production for City of Ember begins this summer in Belfast with Walden and Fox hoping for an October 10, 2008, release.
