Silver Spoons
Watching Silver Spoons for the first time since its first run brought back a lot of fond memories. The show is gloriously '80s, shot in video with canned laughs and Pac Man noises. Its big toys and wealthy manchild hero glorifies the decade's frivolity.
DVD Review: Silver Spoons
Some of the bits are like Vaudeville in style but still funny. The jokes hold up today and the character dynamics were solid from the beginning. The show is really what I remember. It is not affected by the taint of maturity.
Expert stage timing shows the art of sitcom in its heyday and the very special moments all work, unlike the bastardized attempts at pulling heartstrings made by its imitators.
