A morality tale, The Repossession Mambo is set in the near future, when artificial organs can be bought on credit, with the understanding that defaulting on payment will result in a fatal repossession.
Miguel Sapochnik will be making his feature directing debut with the thriller.
Eric Garcia wrote the novel and then adapted the story to screenplay with the help of Garret Lerner. The two have been working on The Repossession Mambo for the past four years.
The film will enter production this summer, which should allow it to hit theaters before Repo! The Genetic Opera!. Before you ask, yes, this project features a surprisingly similar story.
Sapochnik wrote and directed short film The Dreamer.
