While we wait for Samuel L. Jackson to startle us this weekend with 1408, a scoop has appeared online claiming that he will be spending today, as in today, Thursday, filming some scenes for Iron Man!
Jackson Nick Fury for Iron Man
The good people at AICN have discovered the identity of Nick Fury for Iron Man.
Today, though, he’s shooting scenes featuring an actor who is a set-up for a larger Marvel continuity, and it’s exciting because I’m hoping this character can start showing up in other films, and we’ll start seeing Marvel Studios creating a larger world, one that exists outside the frames of the individual movies. This is a major step towards making that AVENGERS movie we’ve been hearing about. So who’s the actor? Who’s the character?
Sam Jackson. Nick Fury.
Though one should always be skeptical of non-confirmed scoops, the report finishes with, "Count on it."

For those of you who don't keep up with Marvel, Nick Fury was a World War II sergeant who ended up leading a special ops crew known as the Howling Commandos. Fury remained in the army through other campaigns including Korea. Once there were no longer wars to fight, Fury joined the CIA and helped organize a special espionage unit known as S.H.I.E.L.D., which as the acronym for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.
