The Dark Knight
With The
Dark Knight deep into production Christian Bale has made some
time to discuss what is expected from the upcoming Batman
installment.
Bale on Dark Expectations
When you resurrect a franchise with Batman
Begins you have to types of expectations. First, the pressure
is off when it comes to trust from the fans and the studios. We get it;
Bale, Nolan and the rest of the crew know how to deliver a Batman
film that helps us forget all about the nipple-donning Batman &
Robin. But with that comes renewed expectations, as we can only
hope for even better from The Dark Knight.
Christian Bale sat down with SHH
to discuss the added pressure from these upgraded expectations.
He also said that they do feel some pressure to try to do outdo or better
the first movie, but that's necessary. "Yes, you must, you have to
do that. If we're just doing the same, then what's the point? There are
people who should demand that, but it does get better, so we have to do
that. That would be the death knell, wouldn't it? If we all got complacent,
just said, 'Oh, we just have to bang out the same thing we did before.'
Sure, we use the strengths, and we're not going to discard the things that
worked, but we've got to move forward as well."
The Dark Knight opens to theatres
on July 18th, 2008.
