Though the TV spots and trailers for Transformers are still promising the film's theatrical release on July 4th, the film actually comes out tonight.
In Theaters: Transformers
Though I am assuming most of you already know this, a couple emails this morning made me wonder just how many of you think that July 3rd is the early release and July 4th the full release. Subtract one day and now you have it.
Transformers enters theaters tonight and will begin playing at 8PM. Not even that late, I know. For those of you who prefer the excitement of late showings, the film will also be playing from midnight until 3AM at multiple theaters; check Fandango for actual times, however.
Transformers will then play all day tomorrow on the 3rd. Why did Paramount push the release forward? Well, why not? Since every other tentpole had an early release, Transformers' July 2nd playdate comes as no surprise. Add the fact that Warner Bros. pushed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix forward a couple of days and one can see why Paramount is hoping for a couple extra days of Potter-less competition.
Fred claims the film is better than sex. I can't exactly back that claim, as I have yet to see the movie -- I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the press screening instead.
Transformers invades theaters today.
