Paramount has some reason to celebrate for the Fourth. Giving Transformers an early debut this Monday, the film has already taken in just over $8 million.
Transformers Opening Box Office
Early estimates predict that Transformers made between $8.1 and $8.5 million during its late-night debut. Opening on 3000 screens at 8PM, the film was unable to match up to the $13 million that Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End brought in during its early Memorial Day release.
Paramount remains hopeful, however, as Independence Day is not nearly as big as the Memorial Day holiday when it comes to box office numbers. Add in the fact that knowledge of Transformers' early release was also limited, and the film is still on track to make grips of skrilla over its six-day opening.
Pixar also has reason to celebrate. With kids out of school, Ratatouille was able to bring in another $7.5 million this Monday; bringing its total domestic take to $54.6 million.
Will Independence Day feature a battle between alien robots and a cooking rat?
