Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Fred Claus and, though it does look like they tried really hard on this one, it could be a hit or miss.

For Fred Claus to work, a lot is going to depend on how well Vince Vaughn can pull off a role similar to Wedding Crashers. He might be playing Santa's brother, but there is still a whole lot of Crashers' Jeremy in him. One thing that the trailer doesn't suggest, but it has to be there, is some sort of romantic interest for Fred to fall for. It would have been cool to see Vaughn get set up with a 'small person,' but there is one tall hottie that goes by the name of Elizabeth Banks.
I am giving 4 to 3 odds that she is the one Fred falls for. I wouldn't mind a couple miniature (mind the pun) affairs along the way.
The trailer ends on a strong note -- slightly reminiscent of Elf -- showing Fred as he tries to adapt to living with elves.
