Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan, who we will see shortly with Rush Hour 3, will return to Japan -- well, at least on set -- for The Shinjuku Incident.
Jackie Chan for The Shinjuku Incident
Chan will produce and star in The Shinjuku Incident, a project that has been setup as a co-production with a mainland Chinese partner; allowing the film to qualify for a China release.
Derek Yee Tung-sing has already been selected to direct. Celebrated as a drama director, Yee is one kick forward for Chan's oft-stated desire to take on more character acting roles.
Not much has been said on the plot, but we do know that The Shinjuku Incident will take place in the 1990s and follow the lives of Chinese immigrants in Tokyo. Chan and Yee represent the only talent (so far) attached to the project.
Chan is currently working on The Forbidden Kingdom, which is still set for a September 2008 release.
