Though a few more i's have to be dotted and couple more t's need to be crossed, Stanley Tucci is in final negotiations to play the role of killer George Harvey in Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lovely Bones.
Stanley Tucci is George Harvey for The Lovely Bones
Rachel Weisz and Ryan Gosling are already onboard to play the parents of Susie Salmon (played by newcomer Saoirse Ronan), a 14-year-old who has been raped and killed by a neighbor she refers to as Mr. Harvey. Alice Sebold's best-selling 2002 novel is told from the perspective of Susie, who looks down on her family and Harvey from the afterlife.
Jackson acquired the film rights to the book and immediately handed it over to his writing dream team that included Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh.
The Lovely Bones will enter production this October in Pennsylvania and, you guessed it, New Zealand.
Tucci has recently been seen in films including The Devil Wears Prada and Lucky Number Slevin.
