Yo-Yo Girl Cop
Beats the title for my movie, Splish Splash Mop Boy.
Now I am not exactly the Japanese Anime guru so forgive me for not being overly excited for this movie. I imagine it’s like Transformers being made into a movie for fans of the comic but let’s just say that I didn’t grow up with Yo-Yo Girl.
DVD Review: Yo-Yo Girl Cop
Yo-Yo Girl Cop isn’t just made out of thin air. The story stems from the comic where a band of special agent school girls, each wielding a different weapon. Obviously in this case, our heroine, K, does her damage with a steel Yo-Yo.
Having had no exposure to the previous films in the series I was a bit lost at some of the innuendos (let alone the obscenely fast moving camera and editing) but there’s not much to figure out here. Director Kenta Fukasaku has done his job with the script concerning the diabolical plot trying to be carried out by terrorists using an underground website and an ominous timer.
I really can’t say much else. It was pretty entertaining but I know I missed a big part of the hoopla because I had never heard of the comic before. Shame on me, I guess.
‘The Making of’ was decently interesting and shed some light on how they made all the bangs and explosions.
Just becuase I had no idea what else to give it. If you’re a fan of the comic, I’m sure you’ll love it. If you’ve never heard of ‘Sukeban Deka’, then you’ll feel the same way I did.
