One thing that always tickles my hide about Dermot Mulroney is that the first time I ever saw him on screen I couldn't even recognize him. Thanks to some makeup and false teeth, Mulroney played a hideous-looking Dirty Steve Stephens in Young Guns. Many still watch the film and don't even catch that the good-looking Mulroney is playing the part.
Sure, he has stood out in other films including My Best Friend's Wedding, and he will likely do so again in Flash of Genius.
Dermot Mulroney for Flash of Genius
Mulroney has been picked up by Universal to join Greg Kinnear in Flash of Genius.
Mulroney will play Gil Privick, best friend of Robert Kearns (Kinnear) and owner of a chain of auto-parts stores. Kearns invented the intermittent windshield wiper and sued Detroit automakers over patent infringement.
Flash of Genius is currently filming in Toronto. Marc Abraham is directing from a screenplay by Philip Railsback, Scott Frank and Abraham based on a New Yorker story.
Mulroney most recently appeared in Gracie, Zodiac and Georgia Rule.
