After much speculation, it was confirmed today at Comic-Con that Karen Allen will be returning to Indiana Jones IV to reprise her role as the spirited Marion Ravenwood.

Just in case you have been out of the loop, Allen's Marion Ravenwood appeared in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. You can see a picture of her and Steven Spielberg on set to the right.
Indy ended up going on to bigger and better things with Temple of Doom and Last Crusade while, well, what the hell happened to her character?
Either way, her absence means that she will be reappearing in an Indiana Jones installment after a window of 26 years.
Why does Indy IV need the return of Marion Ravenwood? Hard to say, but the Indiana Jones website now has a particular box as its background. What is this box? If my memory serves me well, which it normally doesn't, this is the same box that the Ark of the Covenant was packed away in at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
