Disturbia on HD-DVD
Having never seen Disturbia, I was given the chance to see it on both DVD and HD-DVD. As expected the film does look better on HD-DVD and the extra features are a nice perk. But will these added bonuses influence you on whether to buy the film?
Probably not.
Disturbia on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray
Disturbia is one of the few thriller/horror films that I actually enjoyed. It is not that the film has anything terribly unique going for it, but it does a helluva job avoiding your usual clichés; something that is rare for this type of genre. As icing on the cake, the story does feature a few moments that will surprise you; and I'm not talking about jumping out of your seat either.
The extra features are cool, though I found them to be unnecessary for this type of film. Since it is based (partially) on an older movie and does not try anything new in terms of cinematography or special effects, you won't be asking yourself 'how they do it' by the time the credits role. Some of the added features included commentary, some deleted scenes, a 'Making Of,' outtakes, trailer and a quiz.
Outtakes are always enjoyable.
300 comes to DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, August 7th.
