A man (Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films.
One great aspect about Be Kind Rewind is that the story gives tons of opportunities to parody both classic and popcorn films. When you are working to remake films like Driving Miss Daisy on a minimum budget, expect some laughs to ensue. Jack Black playing the part of female lead (Jessica Tandy)? Well, that could be a hit or miss.
The film does look pretty solid, however. Mentioning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is also a nice touch.
