Mike Myers has just become a very lucky man. I don't know if it was he who blew the casting agent, but Myers has landed himself a co-star in Jessica Alba. The two have been put together by Paramount Pictures to co-star in The Love Guru.
Jessica Alba Visits Myers, The Love Guru
Myers has added Romany Malco and will reteam with Verne Troyer, who played Mini-Me in the three Austin Powers films.
Everything about the film sounds good, except the bit where Jessica Alba is supposed to be the owner of a hockey team. Maybe I don't know something about the league that other people do.
In his first new character creation since Austin Powers, Myers plays Pitka, an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. After moving back to the U.S., he attempts to settle a rift between a hockey player (Malco) and his wife, who begins scoring with the star player of a rival team. Alba plays the hockey team owner and Troyer the team coach. Pitka's job is to check that illicit romance and reunite the couple so the star player can lead his team to the championship.
Marco Schnabel will direct The Love Guru off a script by Myers and Graham Gordy.
Jessica Alba's got a couple projects coming our way including Good Luck Chuck, set to arrive to theaters shortly with Dane Cook, Bill, Awake, The Eye and Sin City 2.
Except for a TV gig based on Shrek, The Love Guru is one of Myers only projects set to hit theaters before 2010.
