Q: What do toilet paper and the USS Enterprise have in common?
(highlight for answer) A: They both try to get Klingons off Uranus!
Now that that's behind us, we have been alerted to a great Star Trek casting article posted over at IGN that takes a look at the possible remaining cast. The usual fluff gets thrown around including confirmation reminders, and then, right near the end, the piece suggests that Russell Crowe is being considered for 'villain' by Paramount.
Russell Crowe a Villain in Star Trek?
Though the plot of Star Trek is being held in a safe, that is being held within a safe, that is being hidden somewhere in JJ Abrams' rectum, there isn't much to go off of when one considers what type of villain Crowe could be playing.
This type of villain?
IGN was told earlier this week that Paramount is trying to woo none other than Oscar winner Russell Crowe to play the film's villain. Our source seriously doubted that Paramount and Abrams could land the busy star, who has Body of Lies and Nottingham on his schedule in the coming months. Still, the search for a strong actor and commanding presence such as Crowe suggests that the story's villain could very well be, like Kirk, a leader of men -- a role that Crowe is utterly believable in. Whether the villain is human, Klingon, Romulan, Vulcan or some other alien species remains uncertain.
Since the last time the villain was mentioned he/she was said to be a 'Federation villain', so maybe we just have a human turncoat who Kirk has to go after. Something like Wrath of Khan? That would be sweet!
I would love to see Crowe don some Klingon makeup, however.
