Beckinsale and Wiseman
Jumping off of Live Free or Die Hard, director Len Wiseman is looking to direct another action movie. It just so happens that New Line is working on a remake for Escape from New York, starring Gerard Butler. Somebody was bound to get these two parties together.
Len Wiseman to Escape from New York
I have never been much of a fan of Len Wiseman, but must admit that I had a great time watching Live Free or Die Hard. Sure, it didn't compare to the original, but it was still one of this summer's top action films.
Wiseman will have time to prep for New York, as the script is stil being written by Black Hawk Down scribe Ken Nolan.
Butler's portraying Snake Plissken, the convict and war hero who's sent into a futuristic Manhattan -- which has been turned into a giant maximum security prison -- to rescue the president of the U.S. after his plane is knocked down by terrorists. The original starred Kurt Russell and was set in 1998.
For those of you unfamiliar with Wiseman, he directed both Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. He kicked off his career in film as a production designer.
Gerard Butler, who we recently saw in 300, has a couple projects currently in production including RocknRolla and Nim's Island.
