Grindhouse
With the summer season pretty much over, Business Week (God bless them) has taken the time to take a look at the season's biggest blockbuster losers. Did any of your favorite films make the list?
Grindhouse On Hold in the UK
The two titles that stick out on the list of losers are Evan Almighty and Grindhouse. Evan Almighty was obviously a bad choice -- you don't make a $200 million film that is based on safe, family-friendly comedy. The film obviously didn't do as well as the original, though its budget was more than twice as much, leaving Universal Pictures in the red.
Grindhouse, well, there is nobody to blame for Grindhouse but the moviegoers themselves. Both Planet Terror and Death Proof were terrific and did their best to showcase great times at the theater. The only problem was their genre, which didn't seem to target a large enough demographic except for the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino super fans.
I could have sworn this group was a lot bigger.

As you might have guessed, The Invasion was the most recent entree of (big) loser.
