What is going on with Russell Crowe? No, no, he hasn't beaten anybody up inside a hotel lobby or anything like that. But he has been the center of two interesting casting rumors. At the beginning of the month we were told that Crowe could have a part in the upcoming Star Trek movie and now another report comes in claiming that Crowe will make an appearance in The Dark Knight.
Russell Crowe in The Dark Knight?
iF Magazine sat down with Christian Bale to discuss The Dark Knight and the actor obviously didn't want to give away any details. To keep folks happy, however, he quickly throws out that 3:10 to Yuma co-star, Russell Crowe, will have a role in the film.
THE SKINNY: While promoting the new western 3:10 TO YUMA which opens up September 7, Christian Bale let slip this bit of information about THE DARK KNIGHT film and his YUMA co-star Russell Crowe.
"Russell’s going to actually be in the new BATMAN movie, which is a big surprise and I want to reveal it to everybody right now," says Bale who wouldn't reveal any more info (and who knows, maybe he was just kidding, but that would be cruel).
Yes, that would be cruel. To help lighten the tension, who wants to watch "Fighting Around the World" one more time? You got it!
Got to love that clip. All kidding aside, we have never known Christian Bale as a person who jokes, so coming from him would make this casting announcement damn near official.
But what character would Crowe be playing? Like Star Trek, it's all speculation.
The Dark Knight opens to theaters on July 18th, 2008.
