Hollywood's adapting everything. Comicbooks, video games, TV shows, and now a collection of short stories. Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger have been picked up by Senator Entertainment to star in The Informers, a film based on short stories by Bret Easton Ellis.
Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Bassinger for The Informers
The Informers will star Superman himself, Brandon Routh, along with Austin Nichols, Ashley Olsen, Jon Foster and Lou Pucci.
Bret Easton Hills has a long history with Hollywood, with novels such as American Psycho, Less than Zero and The Rules of Attraction being adapted into films. The Informers will, however, be the first project he had a hand in adapting; he co-wrote the script with Nicholas Jarecki.
The drama is set over the course of a week in 1983, in the chillingly nihilistic world of Ellis' youth in Los Angeles. Seven storylines intersect, involving crazies including movie execs, rock stars, and even a vampire. You heard correct, a vampire.
It is unknown what roles Thornton and Basinger will be picking up, but I for one am rooting for vampire.
Production on The Informers will begin this October in Los Angeles.
