The Simpsons Movie
Got some bad news for you Simpsons fans. Though The Simpsons Movie made enough money this summer to make even Mr. Burns envious, the creators are claiming that there are no plans for any sequel.
No Sequel for The Simpsons Movie
/Film caught up with Simpsons executive producer Al Jean and learned that there are no plans for a sequel:
“We would only do a sequel if we believed it was a movie that had to be made, just like we did with the first one,” Jean told the New York Post. “We wouldn’t want to do it just because the first one was successful, or because we wanted to make money off of a movie. We’d only do it if we had a script that we thought was great [and] there’s no script at this point.”
No plans just yet, but imagine what Jean will be saying when Fox makes The Simpsons creative team an offer they can't refuse. No, nobody is getting killed, but one can easily imagine some salary boosts for another installment. Besides, Fox has been hurting to get another franchise off the ground.
The report at /Film also claims that the 19th season premiere airing September 23rd will feature Bart Simpsons writing, “I will not wait 20 years to make another movie.” Though I'm not exactly a fan of the series -- South Park takes up all my time -- that is a pretty damn funny nod to the film.
