Bloody-Disgusting
If you read CanMag then there is a good chance you read Bloody-Disgusting, the entertainment site dedicated to the horror genre. It seems there growing popularity has caught some attention, which of course leads to more popularity -- a vicious circle.
The horror site has been acquired by the production entity, the Collective.
Bloody Disgusting Acquired
The Collective has a taste for horror, as they are working to acquire and license digital rights to existing horror content.
"Horror has a thriving fan base, and Bloody-Disgusting.com has massive traffic and membership views that exceed brands like Fangoria by a five-to-one ratio," said the Collective's CEO, Michael Green.
Like many website acquisitions, the founders -- Brad Miska and Tom Owen -- will remain onboard to continue operations and keep up with content. According to Variety, Bloody-Disgusting has attracted nearly 1 million unique visitors and 20 million hits per month.
"This new relationship with the Collective will allow us to further deliver on that promise and give more thrills and chills to our fans," Miska said.
I don't know how big the Collective is, but sites such as Cinematical have benefited from acquisition; their exclusives boosted over night and they now have a nice and shiny Moviefone button.
The Collective reps such talent as Forest Whitaker, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Izzard, Emile Hirsch and John Leguizamo.
