The Fountain
Though I waited anxiously for The Fountain to hit theaters, I didn't get a chance to finally catch the film until its arrival to my doorstep in glorious HD DVD. After completing the film I could only wonder why there were some of you out there who didn't like it. Sure, it leaves a lot for the viewer to figure out, but aren't you tired of films telling you what to think anyway?
Commentary Spews Out of The Fountain
The Fountain is one of those films that I love. Something that leaves you pondering your experience every time a discussion around the film gets brought up. Was it the same guy? Reincarnation? Buddhism? What?
I love that it makes us think.
But, when you do have a film with so much food for thought, it is also nice for the DVD to include commentary from the director. Why Warner Bros. found this unnecessary, I cannot say, but Darren Aronofsky is hoping to fill in some holes.
Aronofsky has made his commentary track for The Fountain available to everyone by posting it up on his official site. Though it won't likely answer all your questions, at least you can get a better picture of what was going through the director's head.
