I showed a few buddies the first trailer for Iron
Man before the weekend and they all admitted that the film looks like one helluva good time. Everything about the film had an entertainment factor above par, and seeing Iron Man fly was simply too cool.
But will the flying segment actually exist in the film? Hmmm... Yes!
Iron Man Confirmed to Fly
Variety threw some water on the Iron Man hype by claiming that the clip of Iron Man flying in both the Comic Con footage and teaser trailer was made for promotional use only. According to the publication, ILM stated that the footage was rushed for Comic Con and later reused in the film's trailer. So, having Iron Man chased by military jets was just a fake?
Not so! Jon Favreau has quickly responded to the no-fly-zone claim:
"[The flying scenes from the trailer are] in the movie. It's true that the shots were rushed for Comic Con, but the F-22 dogfight has been in the works for over a year and was the furthest along of the film's set pieces. That's how we were able to get it on the screen nearly a year before the premiere."
So it would seem that Variety was only half right. Yes, the flying footage was rushed strictly for Comic Con and later the trailer, but it represents only a small segment of a much bigger flying sequence to be featured in the film.
