I found it hard to get to sleep last night/this morning, as Waiting was playing on HBO and I figured laughter was better for my health than sleep. Ryan Reynolds can make anything funny, even a film that accurately portrays the day in a life of a server at a commercial-style restaurant similar to Chili's.
Having worked at Chili's during my college years, I can tell you that the film nails it.
Though I have my fingers crossed that Reynolds will grace us with his presence in a new action film or raunchy comedy, he seems to be in orbit of the romantic comedy genre at the moment.
Ryan Reynolds for Adventureland
Miramax Films has picked up Ryan Reynolds to star opposite Jesse Eisenberg in the 80s-set comedy Adventureland.
The film is set in summer 1987 and centers on an uptight recent college grad who is forced to take a degrading minimum-wage job at the local amusement park after he realizes he can't afford his dream European tour. Reynolds will play Connell, an aspiring rock star and the icon of cool to all the kids working at the park.
Greg Mottola, the same director who recently had audiences rolling in the aisles for Superbad, will helm Adventureland.
Filming is expected to begin next month. Reynolds next stars in Definitely, Maybe.
