When Casino Royale decided to take a different road than the Bond franchise as a whole by not allowing Bond to use any sophisticated, but could probably sell on clearance at Toys r Us, gadgets I couldn't help but appreciate the refreshing change. Bond was limited to his wits, brawn and, of course, a piece.
Will this trend continue into Bond 22? Hard to say, but Haggis is definitely teasing the notion of giving Bond a little bit more to play with this time around.
Bond 22 Gets More Gadgets
While hanging out with Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show, Haggis was forced to discuss a little Bond 22, though he was sitting in the chair to talk about the release of In the Valley of Elah.
Though there wasn't that much to give, Haggis does admit to two things:
1. The script isn't very far along. As a matter of fact, Haggis has only written 45 pages which, according to him, is not even close to the film's halfway point.
2. Before Casino Royale, Bond had become known for his gadgets. Haggis is considering inserting more gadgets for Bond to use this time around.
Gadgets are fine, just as long as they aren't cheesy.
For those of you worried about the lacking script, don't. Haggis has until December before filming and, considering that they shot Casino Royale for weeks before finding Eva Green, the production knows how to work with lacking resources.
