Shows like The Simpsons keep Springfield's location a mystery for nearly two decades, and Cheers never let us see Vera. Heroes threw us a bone in Season One by revealing HRG's name, Noah, in the finale. But it hasn't stuck, as Season Two still has Jack Coleman referred to as Bennet at best.
Jack Coleman on Season Two of Heroes
"So far, no, there hasn't been a lot of Noah calling," said Coleman. "Not so much. Not yet, maybe later. Doesn't mean it won't come into play later. We're only two episodes in."
After the tragic and heroic arc of Mr. Bennet last year, things may be returning to normal for old HRG. "Well, the Bennet family is in a different location but very quickly old habits and old ghosts will reappear. There's a familiarity but the circumstances are definitely different. It's very interesting that the dynamic within the family is quite different and yet you start to see that the idea of full disclosure is not really one that comes naturally."
The return to form for HRG will give Coleman plenty of meaty scenes to play. "I'm looking forward to playing the line between loving father and lethal operative. I think that what'll happen is as the season goes on, the dark side of his character will start to come out more and more."
And here things were going so well… "It's a drama. It's based on conflicts."
At least Mrs. Bennet is relatively safe for now. "So far so good. We haven't seen any cerebral meltdowns so that's a good sign."
Expect Bennet to team up with some unexpected characters as well, but that of course will remain a mystery. "I can't say who it is."
Heroes returns to NBC this Monday, September 24th.
