Knight Rider
Way back in October of 2006 we posted the poster (featured right) and suggested it could be the teaser poster for Knight Rider, an adaptation by The Weinstein Company. Whatever happened there?
No matter, as we can now use the same poster when talking about Knight Rider, the return of the series on NBC.
NBC Calls KITT for Knight Rider
NBC, who I can't imagine being out of creativity with shows like Heroes, Chuck, Journeyman and Bionic Woman, are looking to bring back Knight Rider, with Doug Liman already onboard to produce.
NBC is readying a two-hour backdoor pilot for the project, with tentative plans to air it as a telepic later this season. If Liman's schedule opens up, the producer will even consider directing.
Dave Andron is currently writing the pilot script and will produce alongside Liman and The O.C.'s Dave Bartis.
The success of Transformers helped inspire NBC chief Ben Silverman to revive Knight Rider. Thanks to advancement in effects, KITT and other, evil vehicles will now have the ability to shift shapes. You mean, like, transform?
Thanks to cross promotions, the show's pilot/telepic would not be that much of a risk. General Motors was willing to dump some money into Transformers and NBC feels that car companies would be willing to do the same to see their vehicles racing around Knight Rider.
