Though she isn't officially on the map yet -- The Golden Compass hasn't even hit theaters yet -- Dakota Blue Richards, a girl I still get confused with Dakota Fanning, has picked up her first non-franchise gig.
Dakota Richards for The Secret of Moonacre
Dakota Blue Richards has been cast to play the central character in Gabor Csupo's The Secret of Moonacre.
Previously titled The Moon Princess, the $27 million production began filming this Monday in Budapest.
Richards will play Maria, an orphan sent to live with her uncle in mysterious Moonacre Manor. There she enters a world of magical creatures and discovers that she's the only person who can undo an ancient curse and save Moonacre Valley. She will lead a cast that includes Ioan Gruffudd, Tim Curry, Natascha McElhone and Juliet Stevenson.
Scribes Lucy Shuttleworth and Graham Alborough penned the script based on the classic children's novel The Little White Horse, by Elizabeth Goudge.
