Ben Affleck
I have never understood why people like Us Magazine so much. They should re-title the pub to "Your Favorite Actors: Exposed, Walking, Jogging, Eating and, No Makeup." Some of you have an extreme fascination of seeing the biggest stars acting like normal people, such as coming outside. Pictures of this happening are on all of the magazine's pages; I don't get it.
Though I don't understand the trend, I have to hand it to Us Magazine for getting Ben Affleck to open up and explain -- from at least his point of view -- how his career is f**ked.
Ben Affleck Counting on Gone Baby Gone
Am I the only one that still defends Ben Affleck? Once part of the MTV culture, meaning I sat and watched MTV, I can remember hearing on countless occasions that Affleck was the nicest guy in Hollywood. Pilots, limo drivers and gas station attendants all seemed to agree on the fact. I then watch Shakespeare in Love and wonder why he hasn't picked up a similar role since -- he was great!
Unfortunately in Hollywood, who you date can put a ding in your career and, in the case of Bennifer, that was like a fatality collision.
On dating Jennifer Lopez:
“It was probably bad for my career. What happens is this sort of bleed-over from the tabloids across your movie work. You go to a movie, you only go once. But the tabloids and Internet are everywhere. You can really subsume the public image of somebody. I ended up in an unfortunate crosshair position where I was in a relationship and [the media] mostly lied and inflated a bunch of salacious stuff for the sake of selling magazines. And I paid a certain price for that. Then, in concert with some movies that didn’t work…”
Whoa! Talk about honesty! Affleck doesn't spend all his time blasting J-Lo, however, as he openly admits that, if Gone Baby Gone doesn't perform, we can all make a wish on him. Look kids, a falling star!
On his directorial debut:
“Listen, I’ve gone out and directed a movie and made it really f—king good. If the movie’s good, people will like it and go see it. All the rest of it is bullshit.”
On what’s at stake with his new film:
“It’s pretty simple. If people don’t go see it – I’m f—ked.”
