Twilight
Another fantasy franchise has found its way to the adaptation chopping block and this time it won't be Fox, Warner Bros, New Line or Paramount taking a shot at it.
After being reconstituted under Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger last spring, Summit Entertainment has picked up Twilight, the first book in a growing series, as its first potential franchise.
Catherine Hardwicke to Direct Twilight
Twilight, the first book in the bestselling young adult fantasy series by author Stephanie Mayer, is being setup at Summit. Catherine Hardwicke will direct off a script by Melissa Rosenberg.
Twilight tells the story of 17-year-old Bella, who moves to a small town to live with her father, and is drawn to a pale mysterious classmate who comes from a family of vampires. Meyer has published two more installments, New Moon and Eclipse, with yet another two in the offing.
Summit production president Erik Feig called the series a "publishing phenomenon."
