I never did catch Firefly before I saw Serenity, but that sure didn't hurt my enjoyment of the film. Hell, I loved the film and its creative mixture of genre enough to suggest it to both friends and family; who also enjoyed it. Though I probably wasn't as disappointed as anyone out there who consider themselves a Browncoat on the news that a Serenity sequel would not be happening, I was still disappointed.
Well, good news, as Clint Morris of Moviehole has received a whopper of a phone call.
Serenity Sequel Now Likely?
Here is the latest on the Serenity sequel. Now, I would normally say don't get your hopes up, but who am I kidding?
When Alan Tudyk told me on the phone this morning that a sequel to “Serenity” could be happening I just about dropped the phone. Tudyk says the newly-released “Serenity : Special Edition“ DVD has been selling so hot, that there’s talk in doing another movie.
“It really is”, says Tudyk. “Everybody in the Firefly crew – and that includes the ones who died in the movie – are excited about the prospect of doing another”.
Nathan Fillion, says Tudyk, is especially keen. “We were out a couple of weeks ago together at a party and there was a bunch of people there, and he was like ‘Oh, look we’re Browncoats”.
Though I remember a petition for the sequel not working, your best bet would be to get your ass to your local DVD store and buy Serenity: Special Edition!
