Halo 3
Halo 3 had a big opening day with $170 million in the States and, now a week later, Microsoft has revealed, admitted and confessed that the game has earned a nice sum of $300 million (plus) worldwide.
Halo 3 Breaks $300 Million
While most of you have read some great reviews on Halo 3 and how it's a second coming, let me quickly get in a word. I have been playing Halo from the beginning, when one can cheat playing multiplayer by looking at the opponents section of the screen. The maps were awesome, balanced, and fun. Halo 2 came out and the story in the single player began to really kick in. The environments were improved and the online maps were fun; but where the hell was Hang 'Em High?
And now we have Halo 3. The single player atmosphere and story is great, yay, but I am extremely disappointed with the online version. Slightly boring, there isn't a single skill weapon in the game. The human handgun, once the best skill weapons in Halo, is damn near a piece of shit in Halo 3. No zoom in option? Are you trying to piss me off?
The Needler is now strong? What the f*ck?!
Yes, I'm peeved, and hoping that Bungie rewards us for over-flared multiplayer maps by bringing back some of the older favorites. How about starting with Hang 'Em High?
Anywho. Microsoft has enjoyed huge sales with Halo 3 thanks most in part of pre-orders, but we will see if that lasts past week one.
Microsoft first announced that Halo 3 was the best opening video game ever, and are now giving the installment the title of fastest-selling video game ever.
Watch your ego Microsoft/Bungie, as fans of the franchise might get burned out with this installment quicker than the others.
Microsoft said initial reports from worldwide retailers show sales of the console have tripled compared with the previous weekly average. If that momentum holds up, Microsoft should be able to extend its lead over Sony's PlayStation 3 for avid gamers' allegiance and make some progress against the bestselling Nintendo Wii for the broader market.
