Sneaking in high profile cameos is always fun. Most of you still haven't realized that it was Cate Blanchett behind the medical mask in Hot Fuzz, and now some of you might not catch the voice or appearance of Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee or Kathy Bates in The Golden Compass.

'Andrea' has alerted us that the website questeoscurematerie has discovered a few cameos and cast additions for The Golden Compass. Who should you look or listen for?
Kathy Bates - she will be providing the voice of one of the daemons. Which one? Well, uh, moving on...
Ian McKellen - It is hard to keep him away from anything labeled 'big fantasy.' It was first assumed that Ian McKellen would also be voicing a daemon, but it turns out his role is bigger and better. McKellen will voice Iorek Byrnison, the armored Polar Bear that comes to the aid of Lira. The voice in the trailer didn't sound like McKellen, and we were initially told it was Nonso Anozie. So what gives? A new trailer is coming on October 9th, so maybe we will hear him then.
Christopher Lee - He will have a brief cameo as an actual character. "[Lee] plays a member of the Magisterium: a grumpy man dressed in dark colours, whom we see sitting at a table with another character, whose daemon is a panther."
Again, let's see what New Line has in store for us October 9th.
The Golden Compass comes to theatres on December 7th.
