The Golden Compass
Though I'm sure there are already a few of you checking the internet every few minutes to see if the new trailer has arrived for The Golden Compass, I got some other news on the film. As expected, Ian McKellen has landed the role, or should I say voice, of the title bear character, Iorek Byrnison. But it turns out that there is not one but two Ians involved on the project.
Or Mcs, depending on what kind of person you are.
Golden Compass Bears Ian McShane and Ian McKellen
During an interview with Cinematical, Ian McShane lets it slip that both he and Ian McKellen will be voicing armored bears in The Golden Compass.
And The Golden Compass I did, as well. I play the bad bear, the voice of the bad bear, and Ian McKellen plays the voice of the good bear.
The bear that McShane plays is the current king of the armored bears, Iofur Raknison. McKellen's bear, Iorek Byrnison, must challenge Iofur for dominance near the film's completion.
If you have read the book, then you know that the bout between these two bears is surprisingly graphic and gory. Will New Line have the balls to get into the described gore and battle damage? I doubt it.
Expect to hear some of these updated voices in the new Golden Compass trailer, supposedly coming our way today.
The Golden Compass comes to theatres on December 7th.
