Women's Murder Club
Television is full of crime solving shows, but Women's Murder Club has a secret weapon. James Patterson has a loyal following of readers who would rather watch his babes solve crimes than David Caruso and his sunglasses.
Patterson's Women
"I think frequently women solve problems differently than men do," said Patterson. "Women when they come in and there's a problem, they'll go, 'What do you think? What do you think? What do you think?' Men kind of come in and just blurt out, 'Well, here's the answer.' That's why I think this is very, very different."
Patterson knows his women. "I think what's really cool here, typically this would have been called the boys' club and it's the opposite. It's a women's club. That's very, very different. I grew up in a house full of women, my mother, grandmother, three sisters, two female cats, and Aunt Bella who is still in my head."
With his name on the show, Patterson gets a say in the episodic scripts. "So far, yes, I am seeing all of the scripts and I think the scripts are great so far."
Already he is noticing some changes that he thinks improves the dynamic. "Also in the books all of these women are frustrated by their bosses. In the book it's all male. In the series, at least one of the frustrating bosses will be a woman, which I think is a good idea too."
As the series tells new stories that Patterson did not create, he hopes for the potential to improve his own empire. "I think the show is going to be better than the books. It's really, really well done and I couldn't be happier with it."
